Guidebook: Walking in the Upper Dearne Valley

"Walking in the Upper Dearne Valley" by Jacquie Budd

The project which I spent a very wet and muddy winter researching has finally been published as a guidebook and is now available to purchase.

It features 8 circular walks in the Upper Dearne Valley, individually researched and walked by yours truly.

The walks start at 4.5 miles in length, increasing to 9.5 miles as you go through the book. They’re all circular and, for ease of access, 6 begin at Denby Dale railway station. The remaining 2 start where there’s free parking available and information on public transport has also been included.

To make the most of the great tourist attractions in this area, you'll find a walk with a visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, another to the grounds of Cannon Hall and, for a fun twist, one includes a ride on the Kirklees Light Railway.

Priced at £6.99, the guidebook has been designed to fit easily into a pocket while you are out walking.

Published in June 2016.

Purchases can be made in person from Denby Dale Bookshop, or online from Amazon and Waterstones
