Mountain / Adventure Festivals UK: 2019 Calendar
It's fair to say that I love a good mountain festival.
Watching films full of adrenaline, hearing inspiring speakers and chatting with like minded people fills me with a positive energy and gets me fired up to plan my own adventures.
One of my popular posts last year was a calendar of the UK's Mountain Festivals so, just for you, here's an update with 2019's dates.

BANFF Mountain Film Festival UK Tour
Films which were premiered at the world renowned BANFF Mountain Film Festival, on tour in the UK.
January to May 2019 (dates around the UK)
Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival
Edinburgh is taking a year off, with plans to return in February 2020
8th to 9th February 2020
Buxton Adventure Festival
Buxton has a slightly different agenda to other adventure festivals, scheduling films and talks on a monthly basis throughout the year (with the exception of December, July and August).

Fort William Mountain Festival
Fort William brands itself as the 'Outdoor Capital of the UK' and their festival brings together a range of speakers, films and outdoor enthusiasts. The festival aims to "encourage others to get out and explore the wilderness around them."

Braemar Mountain Festival
Braemar Mountain Festival is in its 3rd year and has a range of speakers, films, workshops and events (which includes a ceilidh).
28th February to 3rd March 2019
LLAMFF (Llanberis Mountain Film Festival)
LLAMFF is usually held in early March but the 2018 dates had to be postponed due to lack of funding. There's no information about 2019 on their website, but keep your eyes open as it's traditionally been a great little event.
Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (SHAFF)
Known as the city where climbers come for University, Sheffield branded itself as 'The Outdoor City' a few years ago. The council have embraced outdoor adventure and January 2019 will see an upgrade of their outdoor tourism website: www.theoutdoorcity.co.uk
The Outdoor City Weekender' crams a host of other events into the SHAFF weekend.

Keswick Mountain Festival
If you're looking for a festival which is held in warmer weather, take a look at Keswick which has a line up including live music, sports/activities and speakers.

Alpkit Big Shakeout (Peak District)
The Big Shakeout is an outdoor festival hosted in the Peak District by Alpkit staff. Their format is to "be active during the day and be entertained in the evening".
The Big Shakeout is a not-for-profit festival, with all proceeds donated to the Alpkit Foundation.
27th to 29th September 2019
South West Outdoor Festival
Taking place at a different location in the South West each year, 2019 is Cornwall's turn. The festival includes outdoor activities, food, music and inspirational speakers.

Womens Adventure Expo
The Womens Adventure Expo is a social enterprise bringing events, projects, networking opportunities, specialist workshops and online resources to women in adventure. Their main event has traditionally been held in Bristol in October.
Summer 2019 will see them are adding an Extreme Sports Expo at the NEC Birmingham to their line up.
Provisional dates are Summer 2019 and October 2019
Kendal Mountain Festival
Generally seen as the biggest and better known film festival in the UK, Kendal brings together adventure films, speakers and the basecamp event village where you get to chat with many of the well known retailers.
14th to 17th November 2019
Dundee Mountain Film Festival
Dundee is the longest continuous running mountain film festival in the UK (since 1983). You'll find a programme of international speakers, films, exhibitions and trade stands.

Women in Adventure Film Competition – BMC
The Women in Adventure film competition run by the BMC is not a festival, but still well worth checking out.
The winners are shown at SHAFF and Kendal festivals, along with free entry into BANF Mountain Film competition.
They're also shown on free of charge on BMC TV (online streaming), well worth checking out.
